Our heart is to raise and build up dancers who operate with excellence and anointing in ministering to God and to people through dance.
Our vision for this team is to encounter God and express his heart through dance. Our goal is to create a safe culture that expresses and uses dance for us to connect with one another in unity as well as the heart of the Father as we learn to be sensitive to one another and his Spirit through movement.
We focus on equipping dancers to partner with the Holy Spirit and with each other, teaching them to move from the place of knowing their identity in Christ. We help each dancer grow in their individual creative expression, and we train them to minister together as modern day Levites, hearing God’s voice and expressing His heart through dance.
MEETING TIMES AND REQUIREMENTS
We require all members to be team players, submit to their leaders and have a willing heart to move with God physically and with one another.
We meet once a month on Mondays at 7pm during worship rehearsal at Bethesda.

Joseph Cavanaugh
Bethesda Dance Overseer
Joseph is a creative dancer born and raised in Gresham In his youth, Joseph grew up taking classes such as tap, ballet, hip hop, contemporary and improv. Over time, Joseph participated in dance communities and performances to gain and develop his own experience. As he explored dance, he encountered a life-changing experience that changed his life and perception of dance. Through investing time and money into this new creative expression, he gained experience and mentorship from other dancers in the Pacific Northwest and outside the area, which birthed his class called Creative Flow, contemporary improv.
Joseph now specializes in contemporary improv flow with the inclusion of silks in contemporary movement. His class encourages dancers to express from the heart where they are at in life. He strives to create a safe space for dancers from all backgrounds to come experience movement, challenge their creativity. He currently teaches once a month at a dance studio in downtown Portland called Body Vox.
He now currently leads a separate community of dancers at Bethesda alongside his fellow dancer Bethany Booker.

Bethany Booker
Team Lead
Bethany Booker has danced a handful of styles over the years, including ballet, ballroom, and Argentine tango. In 2011, she began to see dance through a new lens as intimacy with the Lord. She has been privileged to learn and dance alongside others who had been dancing with the Lord for many years. Over time, she's been able to participate in some dance projects with kids and adults and be a part of a few worship dance teams. Bethany really enjoys partner dances where the leader and follower, surrendered to one another, move in seamless union. She believes that is the Lord's heart for dance, through a revelation of His love, and sees herself in that embrace as she dances with the Lord.
